Investigation as huge sinkhole appears in Rome
The cavity appeared on a construction site in the capital.
Two people have been placed under investigation in Rome after a huge sink hole swallowed parked cars and rendered buildings uninhabitable.
The 30-foot (nine-metre) crater opened up on a construction site in the west of the Italian capital.
The pair under scrutiny are the legal representative of the company responsible for the construction site and the legal representative of the owners of the land.
According to legal sources, possible charges include ‘culpable disaster’.
Engineers are working to determine the cause of the cavity.
